World Youth Skills Day: Empowerment through Artificial Intelligence (AI)
With about 450 million youth (7 out of 10) economically disengaged due to a lack of adequate skills for the labor market, United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has stressed the need for a shift from young people being just learners to becoming co-creators of a fairer digital future.
"As AI reshapes our world, young people must be seen not just as learners – but as co-creators of a fairer digital future," he said.
This year's World Youth Skills Day commemorations have been running under the theme "Youth empowerment through AI and digital skills." 🚀
In 2014, the United Nations General Assembly declared July 15 as World Youth Skills Day to celebrate the strategic importance of equipping young people with skills for employment, decent work, and entrepreneurship.
