A New Era for Zimbabwe's Youth: ZYC Calls for Unity, Accountability, and Collaboration
The ZYC expressed profound gratitude to His Excellency President Dr. E.D. Mnangagwa for his progressive vision and unwavering commitment to youth empowerment, evidenced by the appointment of young people to key decision-making positions within the government.
Mrs.Rutendo Mugwagwa, Board Chairperson of the Zimbabwe Youth Council, emphasized the critical role of youth associations in national development through their innovative, youth-led initiatives. She applauded their dedication and spirit, acknowledging their significant contributions to shaping a vibrant youth sector.
To further unlock the potential of these organizations and enhance their collective impact, the ZYC is calling on all youth associations to align their operations with the highest standards of accountability, transparency, and good governance.
This call to action includes a crucial update of their operational status by July 25, 2025. Youth associations can access an update link via WhatsApp at +263774 505 973 or contact +263772 915 473 for further details.
This update process is more than a formality; it is a vital tool that will enable the ZYC to provide better support, connect youth to national opportunities, and advocate more effectively with development partners, ministries, and the private sector. The Council also plans to host a series of workshops designed to enhance the capacities of youth associations and ensure compliance.
"Compliance is not a burden—it is a step toward professionalism, recognition, and sustainability," stated Mrs. Mugwagwa. She highlighted that upholding these standards affirms a collective commitment to youth development and positions young people as reliable partners in Zimbabwe’s transformation.
The ZYC also urged all stakeholders—government departments, NGOs, development partners, and the private sector—to engage with and support youth associations, thereby strengthening their shared mission. As the ZYC enhances its systems to better support youth, it encourages all youth associations to embrace this renewed culture of accountability.
Mrs. Mugwagwa concluded with a powerful call for unity and collaboration: "Let us work together to build a credible, united, and responsive youth sector—a stronger, more transparent, and more empowered youth movement. We believe in your potential, and with your cooperation, the future of Zimbabwe is brighter than ever".
